HiNGE Toolkit app for iPhone and iPad

The HiNGE Toolkit is a companion app for the touring immersive circus production, HiNGE. The app is non-essential for participation at these events, but adds another layer of interactivity with the world of HiNGE.

In The Vespertine Circus: HiNGE, participants are divided into three character types, each a kind of theater technician, and then they are given instructions (called “cues”) at various points in the show by the Ringmaster and the venue itself.

The object of the game is to learn how to do your job as a theater technician and collaborate with other players to facilitate a smooth and beautiful circus rehearsal, but half the fun is in playing poorly and watching things go haywire. HiNGE is heavily influenced by players and is never the same twice.

Because the app is location-sensitive, it exists in a dormant black and white state until players enter the theater where HiNGE is being performed, at which point it will transition into full color and its full functionality will be unlocked. Welcome to life at the circus.
